Scientists to meet Nobel laureates
KUALA LUMPUR: Three Malaysian scientists will be participating in the annual "Nobel Prize winners with young scientists" session in Lindau, Germany, in July.
Dr Azwani Sofia Ahmad Khiar of Islamic Science University of Malaysia, Wong Khai Ming of Universiti Sains Malaysia and Loh Long Ying of Universiti Malaya were yesterday named as the Malaysian participants to this year's event.
They were chosen by the Lindau Council from 50 short-listed Malaysian applicants.
Academy of Sciences Malaysia secretary-general Professor Dr Salleh Nor described such participation as an excellent avenue to develop young Malaysian scientists by giving them an opportunity to gain knowledge and interact with the Nobel laureates and their peers from all over the world.
The scientists will be visiting Max Planck Institute for Advanced Materials in Stuttgart, Centre for Nanotechnology in Munster, Germany, and Department of Physics, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich.
